Access to Information
Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA).
PAIA Manual
The Apex Rentals PAIA Manual explains the records held by the business, records that may be available without a formal request, how to make a request, applicable fees, grounds on which access may be refused and available remedies.
The manual may also be inspected, free of charge, at 72 Van Ryneveld Avenue, Pierre van Ryneveld, Centurion during normal business hours by prior arrangement. Copying charges may apply.
How to request a record
- Complete the Information Regulator’s prescribed Form 2: Request for Access to Record.
- Identify the record clearly, the preferred form of access and your contact details.
- If you request a record of a private body, identify the right that you seek to exercise or protect and explain why the requested record is required for that purpose.
- Attach proof of identity. If acting for another person, attach proof of authority and the relevant person’s proof of identity.
- Send the request to the Information Officer at info@apexrentals.co.za, or deliver it to the physical address stated below.
A request is not automatically granted. Apex Rentals must apply PAIA’s access requirements, mandatory protections, refusal grounds and third-party procedures. Prescribed request, search, preparation, reproduction and access fees may apply. Where a deposit is lawfully required, work may pause until payment is received.
Response and remedies
Apex Rentals will ordinarily decide a valid request within 30 days, subject to a lawful extension and any third-party process. The decision will state whether access is granted, the form and fee for access, or the reason for refusal and available remedies.
There is no internal appeal against a decision of the head of a private body. If a request is refused or no decision is received within the applicable period, a requester or affected third party may use PAIA Form 5 to complain to the Information Regulator, subject to PAIA’s requirements and time limits, or may approach a competent court.
